Rain? Again? Who Woulda "Thunk" It!

We awoke Tuesday morning to rain! What a shock. By the time we enjoyed a wonderful breakfast here at the inn the rain stopped so we were off. Our first stop was to the visitors center at the start of the Kancamagus Hwy. We were given a suggested route and the first place we stopped was Lincoln Woods. We hiked in about a mile and then turned back as these were longer trails we were not prepared for. We continued on and as we drove up we encountered heavy fog. Visibility was terrible on the road and it was not worth stopping at any of the overlooks . As we descended visibility improved and we stopped at the Rock Gorge area and then at the Lower Falls (pictured left). From there we continued to the town of North Conway where we were greeted with more heavy rain. So what is the best thing to do in that case? EAT! We had lunch at Horsefeathers and plotted our attack on the shops. One of the more unique tourist shops in No. Conway is Zebs General Store. The town would be a great place to spend some time looking around if you can find a way to dodge the rain drops! We headed back to the inn the long way so as not to climb back Kancamagus Hwy and encountered Polo and LL Bean outlets and stopped at both. Dinner was at The Common Man in Lincoln. We shared a nice Caesar salad and BA had chicken with brie while I had a very nice Alaskan salmon. From there we went back to The Woodstock Inn for karaoke night where the crowd was treated to my rousing rendition of Sara Smile.
