On The Way To The White Mountains.......

.....with a stop overnight in Amherst, MA. BA and I are on our way on what we are calling our "warm up" vacation before we head off in two weeks to Alaska. We began yesterday with a quick stop to the new deli in Eatontown called Pizzuto's. We bought a small sub, some tortellini salad, with some cheese and crackers for later in the evening. After a couple of hours we stopped at a rest area on I684 just before Brewster, NY for a short picnic. I snapped this shot to the left with BA's new Canon A1000. It is the 10MP version of the new Canon A1100 that is out now with 12mp. I chose the A1000 since I was able to pick it up at a lesser price while seeing very little difference in the camera other than the MP difference. All in all I like it. BA even lets me use it now and then! We arrived later that afternoon in Amherst and are staying in a Holiday Inn Express. Amherst is the home of UMASS so we went in to town for dinner. A true college town in every sense of the word we found a terrific restaurant called Judie's. We looked at the menu and instantly saw the vegetarian risotto dish. They were two risotto cakes with a crunchy deep fried coating with portobello mushrooms in a tomato based broth with zucchini and other vegetables. Outstanding! Along with a few glasses of charddonay we were happy! After a nice walk through town we headed over to the Appleby's across the street from the hotel for a night cap. This morning it is off to New Hampshire.,
