Hummingbird Don't Fly Away, Fly Away.......

The old Seals and Crofts song came to mind while stopping at this vista overlooking Bear Lake. We arrived early this morning after a terrific (and early arrival) flight to Salt Lake City. We headed first, to Ogden, UT and then while traveling on HWY 89 we saw an old fashioned Drive In called Maddox Family Drive In where we dined on a fried chicken basket that was out of this world! The drive in, started in 1949, brings to mind our own Circus Drive In. After chowing down and regaining some strength we continued towards Logan UT and to our final destination for the night, The Blue Bird Inn located on The Bear Lake in Fishhaven, Idaho. After checking in we took a ride to Montpelier Idaho and visited the National Oregon/California Trail Center where we stepped into the days of the Old West (ok I am copying that from the brochure) and took a 2000 mile journey on a simulated wagon train. We ended the evening with dinner at Coopers Restaurant and Sports Bar at Bear Lake and afterwards, after a reccomendation from our waitress, we had to try the famous raspberry shake, evidently very well known, from La Beaus. Although they do not have a website that I could find here is an interesting article from the New York Times.
