A Morning At Churchill Downs In Louisville.......

This Years Kentucky Derby and Triple Crown Winner Justify
Heading to Churchill Downs was one of the "bucket list" items I had for this trip.
Getting there early allowed us to view the early morning workouts. We took a 1 1/2 hour walking tour that took us to all levels of the track including the millionaires club! The basics of the track betting windows etc had a similar look of most tracks but the history here is on a level of its own
You can see a short slideshow of my favorite shots of the day below.
Visiting the levels provided birds-eye views of the starting and finish lines as well as  the winners circles. A separate one is used for the Kentucky Derby.
Morning Workouts
The tour took us to the Jockeys room where the silks are kept as well as their weigh in area.

One personal note. For sheer beauty on the track itself Monmouth Park is much prettier but sheer size and history there really is nothing like Churchill Downs

The Spires Of Churchill Downs
When in Louisville make sure you stop to see this.....it's worth the trip. You can have a famous Hot Brown or even a Burgoo!
