We Visit Everglades Isle Motorcoach Retreat- Two Motor Coaches and Great Friends!

The Motor Coaches Are Ready!

One of the cool things about living here in Florida is, of course, the weather. And if you are an RVer it is even better. Recently, after two years of being a "snowbird", summers at our longtime home in NJ and the winters in Florida, we made the decision to sell our NJ home and become permanent residents here. Where is"here"you say? Well after two winters of searching for the right spot we settled in the Tradition area of Port St Lucie not far from Jensen Beach and Stuart and only about an hour south to the Palm Beaches. This has allowed us the opportunity to take trips around areas of Florida or any warm weather spots we like. About a week ago we took a trip with our great friends Maggie and Gary to Everglades Isle Motorcoach Retreat in Everglades City, FL. Close to the West Coast this high end resort of approximately 60 sites is within 30-45 minutes of Marco Island and Naples while giving you terrific sights along Alligator Alley.  One important note is this resort is only open from November 1st through April 30th.

Everglades Isle Clubhouse

Everglades Isle has sites either for rent or for sale for Motorcoaches or Super C's only that are set on beautiful pavers and landscaping with the sites measuring 38x60. Some of the amenities include clubhouse with bar and restaurant, accessible"lighthouse", billiards, fitness center, boat services and dock rentals, laundry facilities and more.  Rates are $120 per night with an added on $8 fee for electricity. Our latest YouTube Video has a walk around as well as a chat with our friends Maggie and Gary. A link to that video is further down the page.

The Dolphin Explorer
Some of the trips we took that week included a cruise on
The Dolphin Explorer out of Marco Island a really cool
eco-tour finding and identifying dolphins and other wildlife.
The Dolphin Project started in 2006 and is a long term study. The guide and captain are both very knowledgeable and make it kid friendly as well. Kids get to mark what dolphins they see and the adults have booklets with pictures of the fins and dolphin names. When a dolphin is spotted the guide takes a picture of the fin and
that allows them to identify that particular dolphin.
We also had a half hour stop for shelling as well
(see picture on right). Highly recommend!

Whoa! That's A BIG Gator!

We spent a full day driving along Alligator Alley to see some cool wildlife and some enormous gators. Watch our video and you will see some gators as well as a group of babies.....we didn't get too close as the mama was sure to be nearby. We pulled off the road at Big Cypress National Preserve to get a look at the big guy pictured left but you only need to ride along the route and you will see plenty just lounging on the side of the creeks!

Sunset at Naples Beach

Finally a beautiful evening allowed us a trip to the beach in Naples for the most beautiful sunset! We drove out with chairs and some snacks and leisurely watched as the sun dipped into the Gulf Of Mexico.

Nothing like being able to grab your RV for a trip anytime of the year, right? You can check out our YouTube Video on Everglades Isle Motorcoach Retreat here.
